B Szuler - Birmingham "After obtaining outline planning permission using drawings that I produced myself, I spent a week or so trying to find a local firm to produce the Technical Specifications, Calculations and an Engineering Drawing to provide detail to my builder and comply with the building regulations. Most were very expensive looking for typically 5% - 13% of the total build cost in fees to produce the same for what really was just a simple but large (49sq Metre) extension build project. After searching out a few websites on the internet I came across PlansMadeEasy and decided to give them a call. The guys there were able to look up the planning permission reference and responded back to me within 2 hours to discuss the finer details of what it was that I was after. The questions they were asking gave me absolute full confidence that they knew what they were doing and understood the brief, which is more than could be said for some of the surveyors and architects that had actually visited and walked around the proposed site! The PlansMadeEasy.co.uk quote to produce the Technical Specifications, Calculations and an Engineering Drawing was much more realistic and calculated to be less than 2% of the build cost, so naturally with the right price and confidence that they understood what I wanted, I immediately gave them the job there and then over the phone. With just two further short phone calls during the proceeding week to discuss some finer detail and a small detail change to the project requirements, just five working days later they emailed everything that they had promised to and everything that I needed to start the project! My PlansMadeEasy.co.uk architect (Matt) is more than happy to discuss any aspect of the project directly with my builder should the need arise, but so far (because of the detailed specification and drawing) we have not needed to call him yet. My builder’s opinion was that these drawings, calculations and specifications were as good as he had ever worked with before in his 25 years experience in the building trade and are better than he often is given on projects as they gave him all the detail of everything he needs to know. All of this was achieved by PlansMadeEasy from simple planning drawings/sketches, a few measurements and photographs to refer too, brilliant! So, would I recommend PlansMadeEasy to a friend? Absolutely I would yes, but maybe surprisingly so too would by builder! He tells me that he will be recommending PlansMadeEasy to his clients in the future because he has been so impressed by the detail level and specifications. He normally has to try and work with drawings and specifications with much less detail and often costing 4 times the cost that my ones did! The only regret I have is that I did not know about PlansMadeEasy when I was submitting my full planning permission in the first place; if I did I could have saved a lot of time and probably money too!
